In response to recent posts about the 1972 Midget Championship game between the Lincoln Lions and Longfellow Tigers, former Lions player Dan Richardson reports the following:
“I think (Lincoln) won the game but we had to forfeit the season because someone on our team was found to be too old for Midget League.”
Can it be that Krusi’s park director Paul Hollis, desperate for a championship (and contract renewal), engaged in some illegal recruiting shenanigans? Shades of the Little League World Series!
After closely examining the previously posted Lincoln team photograph, it appears that man-child Mark Candelario might have been loading up on human growth Icees. Although not on Major League Baseball’s banned substance list, Icees were in plentiful supply at the Convenient Food Mart located on High Street directly across Lincoln Park! “Roger, may I please have another cherry special?”
This reporter has placed a call to Bob Woodward asking him to probe a little deeper. Thanks to Dan Richardson, cousin of A.J. “Lil” Arnerich, for opening up this can of midget worms.
